Derived from the venerable M92FS, the American Military spec. M9 pistol was the next iteration of the standard issue US military sidearm. When slated for replacement, the 1911 platform had already served the US for over 50 years. With a possible war with the Soviets on the horizon, the Pentagon began a search for a new service pistol chambered in 9X19mm to reduce ammunition supply chain issues with NATO. Of all the competing designs, the Beretta M9 won all three competitions and was adopted by all branches in 1985.
The M9 is a short recoil, semi-automatic, single-action / double-action pistol that uses a 15-round staggered box magazine with a reversible magazine release button that can be positioned for either right- or left-handed shooters. The M9 is used with the Bianchi M12 Holster, though other holsters are often used. The military specific changes include corrosion resistant finish, hard chromed barrel, modified trigger guard and universal components.
This M9 green gas powered airsoft guns use a CO2 or green gas powerplant. While there are several types of gas-powered airsoft guns, the most popular are the Gas-Blowback guns (GBBs). The GBB allows a realistic, semi-automatic firing of the gun by employing either an on-board, or magazine-stored gas storage system. Basically, the same compressed air that propels the BB out of the bore is harnessed to cycle the slide back (hence: blowback). This creates the realistic "recoil" by cycling the slide/upper receiver back-and-forth while firing the gun. This system gives the hand-held gun the capability to empty a magazine as fast as you can pull the trigger, and just as easily reload the gun by inserting a fresh magazine. Needless to say, this feature holds tremendous appeal for the "simulationist".

This airsoft gun will only take 6mm plastic BBs. Using metal BBs may jam or potentially damage the airsoft gun. In addition, it is strongly recommended the user only uses high quality airsoft BBs when operating their airsoft gun. Using low grade BBs may break inside the barrel and further damage the airsoft gun. It is highly recommended to refrain from using any BBs lighter than .20g with this airsoft gun. Using BBs lighter than .20g may break inside the barrel of the airsoft gun which may cause further damage to the airsoft gun itself. If you would like to achieve more range, it is recommended to use .20g plasti c BBs. If you would like more accuracy, it is recommended to use heavier BBs like .25g and above. It is important to note that the heavier the BB is, the more range is sacrificed. On the contrary, the lighter the BB is, the more accuracy is sacrificed.
