Description
HOTEL TULLER CREAMER!!This Hotel Tuller Creamer from Detroit was produced by Old Reed & Barton, Silver Soldered 3oz Hotel Creamer. It has a few dings, but generally in good shape.
The Tuller was built in 1906 in Lew Whiting Tuller, and an additional five stories were added to the original building in 1910. In 1914 a fourteen story annex was constructed, which added 350 rooms to the hotel. This addition gave the hotel an unusual appearance, as the original building had curved window bays, while the addition had a boxier appearance. The lobby was outfitted with marble, and crystal chandeliers hung from the ceilings. The Tuller Roof Garden hosted Tommy Dorsey's Orchestra, while Duke Ellington played in the wood-paneled, Moroccan-style Arabian restaurant. It was considered the preeminent location for food and drink.
The Grand Dame of Grand Circus Park was finally shuttered in 1976 after a slow decline in the 1960's, and then finally demolished in 1991.
Payment within one day of purchase. Please see all photos carefully as to condition. Postcard of the hotel is not included in the sale.
I have not previously come across a Hotel Tuller creamer from Detroit. This hotel was one of the 'Big Four' that dominated Detroit's early history, including the Book Cadillac Hotel, the Hotel Statler, the Fort Shelby, and the Hotel Tuller.
